The richly illustrated edition is the complete, documented catalogue of the Benaki Museum's important Iznik Ceramics Collection. A large part of the Collection was acquired by the brothers Antonis and Alexandros Benakis, mainly in Egypt, and displayed prominently in the Museum when it first opened in 1931. The Collection today includes a series of rare and important pieces (112 objects, 59 tiles and panels and 223 sherds), some of which bear Greek inscriptions. Although some parts of the Collection were already known and published, it is the first time that the Collection has been published in its entirety, edited by expert scientists.
