Chalice

Silver replica of a chalice with gold-plated decoration, consisting of separately hammered and cast parts. The original is part of the relics brought by refugees from Asia Minor and Eastern Thrace, who came to Greece in 1923 with the exchange of populations. The congruous slender shape and accomplished execution of the decoration bespeak an urban atelier, most probably from Constantinople, of the late 18^th, early 19^th century.
