Bronze replica of a copper processional cross from Constantinople (first half of 11th century) featuring the Virgin Orans in the center, bearing the attribute of “Vlachernitissa” (of Vlachernai). An array of healing saints are depicted around her. The designation of the Virgin and the presence of the healing saints associate the cross with the miraculous holy water of the Vlachernai Monastery, one of the most renowned places of worship in Constantinople.
