Reproduction of an icon with the Virgin Glykophilousa holding infant Christ in her arms. This remarkable representation is distinguished by the expressive power of the faces and the impeccable technique of the execution. The original bears the false signature of Emmanuel Lambardos, one of the most renowned Cretan painters of the late 16th and the early 17th centuries, and the date 1607, but is certainly older. The reproduction is hand-crafted by the artist and icon painter George Bogdanopoulos according to the technique used by Byzantine painters, that is, in egg-tempera combined with earth colours and with polished pure gold leaf.
