Gold-plated icon on a velvet stand, replica of a silver-gilt gospel cover featuring a number of subjects arranged in five plaques, as in the Byzantine leather-bound Gospels. The central representation depicts Jesus the Vine and enriched with the scene of the Annunciation, the figures of the Evangelists and busts of saints. The original cover was dedicated in 1737 to the church of the Saint Martyr Nikolaos of Vouneni at Gerpesi in Thessaly.
