Silver icon on a velvet stand, replica of the one side of a 19th century double-sided silver amulet. On the one side it features an embossed representation of Virgin Mary Orans with Christ and on the other an inscribed cross decorated with savati. Amulets of the time were small cases of square, round or triangular shape, in which sacred objects capable of averting evil were placed, such as pieces of the Holy Cross, flowers from the Holy Sepulchre etc. The chains with pendants at the bottom were supposed to increase the protective powers of the amulet.
