Silver replica of a 14th-century small icon. Before the roofed altar table the Virgin Mary delivers the infant Christ into the hands of Symeon. The scene is framed by Joseph holding two doves, an offering to the temple, and by the prophetess Anna. Miniature icons of this type were particularly widespread in Late Byzantine times, as amulets and as objects for personal devotions.
