This book includes 163 letters, exchanged by the couple Seferis and Nanis (Ioannis) Panagiotopoulos, an Egyptian intellectual, from 1938 to 1963. The long duration of the correspondence, as well as the fact that the correspondents were close personal friends are factors that make this dialogue particularly important and revealing, concerning the people, their works and the political and cultural landscape of the times. Particularly significant are the exchanges on the poetry and poetics of Cavafy (who had been a close friend of Panagiotopoulos), as well as that of Seferis himself. The book includes photographs from the Panagiotopoulos Archive (at the Benaki Museum) and the Seferis Archive (at the Gennadius Library).
