This is the first time this essential work has been published in Greek. Written by a French scholar of Solomos (first French edition: "Ermis" 1977), it broadened the horizons of our knowledge and enriched the lines of enquiries into Solomos and his work. Louis Coutelle utilised this opportunity to study systematically the intellectual world in which Solomos began to formulate his poetic credo, observing the influences he was under and tracking the manifold sources of his poetry, from his very first efforts up to the point of his greatest poetic composition "The Cretan". A contribution, pioneering for its time, always useful for the understanding of the poet, but also always a lesson of research courage and intellectual spaciousness.
