This publication accompanied the exhibition of the same name which was held at the Benaki Museum (June 11-August 31, 2014). It views oriental tobacco from a variety of historical perspectives and presents it as a multifaceted commercial product. From its cultivation, production, and processing at the villages to the main figures of the tobacco trade, the commercial processing and the packaging methods, the tobacco workers and their arduous daily life, the imposing tobacco warehouse of northern Greece and the uses of tobacco in the cities of the day, the book presents the history of tobacco and through it, an important part of the history of Greece.
