Head of Cnidus Aphrodite

Replica of a marble head of Aphrodite, dating to the Roman period (100-150 AD), reproducing a model based on the famous Cnidian Aphrodite by Praxiteles (c. 340 BC). Despite the marble’s wear, the lines of the face radiate the grace inherent in the Attic tradition during the early Hellenistic period. The almond-shaped eyes and full lips are characteristic features of the Praxitelean school.
