Byzantine coin – Anastasius I

Replica of a gold coin of Anastasius I (491-518 AD). On the one side is depicted a helmeted facing bust of the emperor holding a spear with his right hand and a shield decorated with a horseman with his left. Around the perimeter there is an inscription with his name. On the other side Victory is pictured wearing a peplum and a veil. With her right hand she is holding a cross, while on the perimeter there is an inscription. Inv. No. 32258
