Necklace with hanging doves

Silver necklace with cornelian. The disk and the hanging doves reproduce part of a pair of gold earrings from Apulia, Italy (2^nd century BC). The dove, which accompanied Aphrodite, the goddess of love, was considered to be a symbol of love and devotion.
