Replica of a gold necklace with sapphires, amethysts, emeralds and pearls from Antinoe, Egypt, dated to the 5th century AD. Precious necklaces of this type, widespread during the Early Byzantine period, were worn by the ladies of the imperial court of Theodora, as depicted in the famous mosaic votive panel of San Vitale in Ravenna.
