Pendant with hanging dove

Silver pendant adorned with jaspair and pearls, replica of a gold pair of earrings with inlaid jasper on the disc and hanging cornelian doves from Apulia, Southern Italy (2^nd century BC). The dove, which accompanied Aphrodite, the goddess of love, was considered to be a symbol of love and devotion.
