A volume devoted to Andros, with material sourced mainly from The Efstathios J. Finopoulos Collection of the Benaki Museum. The book presents a multi-layered image of the northernmost island of the Cyclades, as it has been handed down to us by travellers, missionaries, archaeologists, historians, scientists, cartographers, and painters within a timespan of five centuries. A selection of texts, maps, drawings, engravings, and rare photographs -either familiar or in some cases published for the first time- depict the daily life, the inhabitants, the history, the monuments, and the scenery of Andros, making up an enchanting biography of the island from the 15th to the beginning of the 20th century.
