At the edge of artistic creation and historical testimony, the images of this volume constitute a corpus of multiple readings and uses. Images of an architectural world, lost to its fullest part: mansions and folk houses, public buildings, Byzantine and post-Byzantine churches, monasteries and mosques. The excellent photographs of Aristotelis Zachos and the concise and informative comments of the three special architects, contribute substantially to the fuller acquaintance and understanding of the historical architecture of central and northern Greece of the last two centuries.
