Rectangular palette. These objects were probably used as mortars for solid pigments or,according to an older view ,as cradles for keeping marble statuettes.Typical of protocycladic stone carving ,the palettes provide abundant information on the use of colour by the inhabitants of the Cyclades in the 3rd millenium BC both in decorating marble pottery and in cosmetics.
