Silver icon on a velvet stand, replica of the one side of a two-sided silver amulet made in the second half of the 19th century. On one side it features the relief representation of the Annunciation and on the other, the Neo-martyr St. George of Ioannina. The original has a compartment to hold a fragment of the Holy Cross or a relic protecting the wearer. The amulet carries the silversmith’s mark guaranteeing the purity of the silver and must have been made in one of the famous silverware workshops of Ioannina.
