Silver replica of a marble jar from the island of Amorgos (krater), dating to the Early Cycladic period (3200-2800 BC). This type of marble Cycladic vessels feature four pierced lugs for suspension. The villagers on the Cycladic islands call them kandiles (votive lamps), but their unusual shape in conjunction with their heavy weight makes their function difficult to determine.
