Silver replica of a gold Creto-Mycenaean signet ring depicting a bull lying in front of an altar in an open-air sanctuary. The original is from the “Treasure of Thebes” (Late Helladic II-IIIA period, 15th - 14th century BC). The bull, the sacred animal of the Aegean people, is shown here either shortly before being sacrificed or having a special relationship with the deity worshipped in this sanctuary.
