Replica of a bronze bull figurine. The original is probably a specimen of the important Peloponnesian bronze metalwork of the geometric period (second half of the 8th century BC). The bull, a precious animal in cattle-breeding, was the most appropriate offering in Zeus’ honour. The copper votive offerings of bulls in sanctuaries of the geometric and archaic periods attest to the social class of the offerers.
