Terracotta replica of a relief representation of Dionysus from Egypt (2nd century). This type of representation of the god follows the statuary type of Lyceus Apollo created by Praxiteles in the second half of the 4th century BC and was developed in Hellenistic times, when, with the advent of syncretism, certain gods assumed characteristics traditionally belonging to other deities.
