The 12th Supplement to the Benaki Museum Journal has been released on the last days of 2020. It is entitled SPONDI. A tribute to the memory of George Despinis. This two-volume collective publication of 1.020 pages is a tribute to the memory of the great archaeologist Giorgos Despinis (1936-2014).

Eighty eminent specialists in ancient Greek sculpture - the field loved and served with sensitivity by the honouree - from various European countries and USA responded most eagerly to the call by the Benaki Museum and entrusted it with the valuable fruits of their research. The publication deals with works of sculpture from a wide geographical spread of ancient Greek art. The papers follow the chronological order of the examined works beginning with examples from the Geometric period up to a statue of the 19th century that refers to ancient models. The articles are written in Greek, German, English, French and Italian. They are accompanied by black-and-white illustrations, notes, bibliography and an abstract in English.

The initiative of this tribute belongs to Angelos Delivorrias, who unfortunately passed away before its release.
