Silver pendant, replica of a coin from the island of Aegina depicting a turtle on one side and four hollow triangles on the other (6th century BC). Till the end of the Archaic period and before its submission to Athens, Aegina enjoyed exceptional economic prosperity; indeed, the island minted the earliest Greek coinage.
