This Corinthian globular flask (aryballus) is decorated with griffins flanking an aquatic bird. Corinthian aryballuses were mass produced in the 6th century AD and were used for storing and transporting essences. They are often decorated with demons and mythical animals normally associated with oriental thematic cycles.Inv. No. 7690
