The Virgin of Tenderness

Silver icon on a velvet stand, replica of the one side of a 19^th century double-sided silver amulet. On one side it features an inscribed representation of the Virgin and Child, and on the other a depiction of St Nikolaos and St Charalampos. Such amulets with religious representations were typically round or rectangular, chiseled or enameled silver boxes containing various sacred objects to protect the wearer from bad luck or illness.
