This publication is dedicated to the work of Yannis Psilakis (1967–2006), an award-winning photographer and explorer who focused on folklore and travel themes in remote parts of the world, as well as on the study of the last indigenous tribes. The Benaki Museum had previously dedicated to his work the book Yannis Psilakis. The World is One (2006).
This publication, based on exceptionally rich and unpublished photographic material from various parts of the world (East Asia, the Pacific Islands, South America, Africa), and accompanied by the editor’s informative texts, aims to complement that initial effort by highlighting the photographer’s contribution to capturing vivid testimonies of a cultural and existential imprint that narrates the history of human wandering.
