Benaki Crafts at Homo Faber

The Benaki Museum, Greece’s Ambassador to the Michelangelo Foundation, an international non-profit organisation that celebrates and preserves master craftsmanship, presents the 7 Greek master artisans who will represent Greece in this year’s Homo Faber Event in Venice. Six unique works of similar techniques with those that will be exhibited in Venice, are presented in the window display of the Ghika Gallery Shop.

Homo Faber Event is an international exhibition championing artisanal talent showcasing 400 unique works from over 30 countries. This year’s edition invites visitors to discover the connection between Europe and Japan, spotlights the country’s influence on European creativity and craftsmanship. On this occasion, Maria Grigoriou, Akis Gkoumas, Margarita Ecclesiarchou, Zoe Keramea, Iosifina Kosma and Chrisma58 (Christos Christidis and Michalis Maidatsis) were selected to exhibit their works.<

Showcasing an impressive array of diverse materials, techniques and expertise, the seven Greek artisans are participating in two of the 15 exhibitions that will take place this April at the San Giorgio Maggiore island in Venice. Metal, fabric, wood, paper and porcelain offer an exciting glimpse of high Greek craftsmanship.
