Ring inspired by a gold signet jewel from the Hellenistic period, bearing a semi-precious stone and an engraved depiction of the head of Heracles (3rd century BC). The technical accomplishment of goldsmithing in the Hellenistic period was complemented by the incredible detail in the representations, whether the subjects were inspired by nature or by various mythological deities.
