The publication, aiming to provide a short informative guide to scientific and artistic progress of the Islamic world, includes texts about the major Islamic literatures (Arab, Persian, Turkish), the Islamic theology and philosophy, the music (by Giorgos Kyriakakis) as well as about the flourishing of the sciences under Islam in the Middle Ages. The volume concludes with an overview of general and selected thematic literature.
